Viking seeks a skilled and enthusiastic Guest Lecturer – Cultural Insights to deliver engaging destination-based lectures on board our award-winning Ocean ships.



Role Overview

This non-paid public enrichment figure will provide a context for learning ahead of visiting the ports of call, addressing customs, law, dress, traditions, religion, language, and food relevant to the area the ship is sailing in and the ports of call.



Responsibilities



  • Prepare and deliver a series of destination-based lectures on board one of our Ocean ships.

  • Conduct Q&A sessions following the lectures.

  • Deliver scenic commentary where fitting.

  • Host tables for guests at dinner, as and when.

  • Accompany guests and escort shore excursions in the various ports.

  • Be an ambassador for Viking.

On Board Our Ship



  • Double cabin with a large picture window, meals, drinks with meals, and unlimited Wi-Fi are all included.

  • A travel companion can join you in your cabin.

  • Travel to/from the ship provided by Viking for you and your travel companion, if you join us for over 18 nights.

  • Full guest privileges.


Your Profile

We are looking for an excellent, enthusiastic, and experienced public speaker able to deliver knowledgeably, confidently, and with passion. You should have a degree or relevant personal experience in the field of expertise. Lecturing experience within a college/university/cruise ship setting is also required.



You should be computer literate, including knowledge of PowerPoint, and a dedicated, flexible team player with a positive and approachable personality. You should be professional in appearance and well-groomed, proactive in upholding Viking standards of excellence, and available to guests for questions, feedback, and general inquiries.



Excellent English language skills in both writing and speech, as well as foreign language proficiency, are a plus. Having a travel companion who can also bring something to the enrichment program is also an advantage.



You should be available for a minimum of 4-6 week assignments, multiple times a year.
