About the Job

CERN is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Machine Protection group. The successful candidate will contribute to the definition, simulation, design, and documentation of superconducting circuits for the High Luminosity Upgrade project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize HL-LHC circuits for performance, operation, and cost, considering circuit numbers and powering configurations.
  • Organize technical reviews and meetings on system design aspects with impact on operational performance and costs.
  • Investigate solutions considering Accelerator Physics, Superconducting Magnets Design, Cold-Warm Powering, Machine Protection, Cryogenics, Integration, and Installation issues.
  • Prepare strategies and documents for circuit instrumentation and magnet polarity definition.
  • Verify magnet circuit implementation in the HL-LHC IT String, focusing on instrumentation, circuit polarities, and electrical quality assurance tests.
  • Contribute to facility operation, ensuring test programs are executed according to schedule, and communicating test status to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Professional background in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Master's degree with 2-6 years of post-graduation experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation experience.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Team attitude and good communication skills.
