Electrical Design and Documentation Office (EN-EL-DDO)
The Electrical Design and Documentation Office (EN-EL-DDO) at CERN is responsible for the electrical power-distribution network, fibre-optics infrastructure, and signal and DC-power cabling for the accelerator complex.
Your ResponsibilitiesYou will join the Electrical Design and Documentation Office (EN-EL-DDO) as an electrical designer to work mainly on multiple small distribution studies and with time, take on larger electrical substation consolidation projects in parallel.
Your tasks will include:
- Design of low voltage distribution networks
- Cable sizing and equipment sizing
- LV protection studies
- CAD drafting activities
With the objective of taking on projects of increasing complexity, you will have the opportunity to further establish your existing knowledge of low voltage distribution circuits by putting it into practice and learn about general design planning.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A good understanding of low voltage distribution networks, including selectivity, calculation notes, European LV standards, protection, UPS, and generators
- A good understanding of power systems, including voltage drop calculations, short circuit calculations, fault levels, and cable dimensioning
- Experience with low voltage design calculation tools, such as ElecCalc, Caneco, or similar software
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
