Electrical Design and Documentation Office

The Electrical Design and Documentation Office at CERN is responsible for the design and documentation of electrical systems, including low voltage distribution networks, cable sizing, equipment sizing, and LV protection studies.

Your Responsibilities

You will join the Electrical Design and Documentation Office as an electrical designer to work on multiple small distribution studies and larger electrical substation consolidation projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing low voltage distribution networks
  • Cable sizing and equipment sizing
  • LV protection studies and CAD drafting activities
  • Planning and organisation of design studies to optimise current procedures
  • Creating and modifying drawings in BricsCAD
  • Working with CERN's equipment databases
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good understanding of low voltage distribution networks, including selectivity, calculation notes, European LV standards, protection, UPS, and generators
  • A good understanding of power systems, including voltage drop calculations, short circuit calculations, fault levels, and cable dimensioning
  • Experience with low voltage design calculation tools, such as ElecCalc, Caneco, or similar software
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
