Environmental Sustainability Coordinator for Complex Food Systems

The United Nations Development Programme is committed to achieving sustainable development in terms of environmental, social, and economic dimensions. As an Environmental Sustainability Coordinator for Complex Food Systems, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the organization's strategy for food and agricultural commodity systems.

About the Role

This position will focus on coordinating efforts to address complex environmental challenges related to food-biodiversity-climate nexus through collaboration between government agencies, development agencies, donors, private sector partners, civil society organizations, and research institutions.

The successful candidate will support the development, prototyping, iteration, and evaluation of a Collaboration Lab methodology applied to food-biodiversity-climate nexus challenges in two pilot countries, harvest and disseminate learnings through a global learning lab, and publish findings through a series of evidence-based recommendations, tools, and guidance that can improve the Global Environment Facility's approach to program design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • SUPPORT COORDINATION OF THE C3 LABS INITIATIVE, IN PARTICULAR ENSURING COORDINATION WITH CORE PARTNERS, COUNTRY OFFICE(S) AND THE GEF.
  • PREPARE AND ORGANIZE CALLS, WEBINARS, VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS;
  • PREPARE PRESENTATIONS, SLIDE DECK; BRIEFING NOTES, PROJECT PROPOSALS, MEETING MINUTES AND REPORTS;
  • ASSIST IN RESEARCH, INCLUDING PARTNER OUTREACH AND FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES, AND ON ANY OTHER KEY C3 LABS RELATED ISSUES;
  • DRAFTING, DESIGNING, AND UPDATING COMMUNICATIONS CONTENT AND SUPPORT ON SOCIAL MEDIA PROMOTION AND WEBSITE UPDATES;
  • MAINTAIN INTERNAL FILING SYSTEM UP TO DATE; INCLUDING DATABASE MANAGEMENT OF C3 LABS PARTNERS;
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in environment, agriculture, sustainable development, economics, journalism, communications, international development, social/political sciences or related fields, or be enrolled in a graduate school programme in a related field. You should also have experience in project coordination and partnership management, communications, writing and editing, and sustainability.

Working Conditions

As an intern with the United Nations Development Programme, you will be provided with a stipend in accordance with the provisions of the UNDP Internship policy. You will also be responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of your internship and providing self-certification of good health prior to starting the internship.

Estimated Salary Range: $600-$800 per month (dependent on qualifications and location)
