We are seeking an exceptional Senior Environmental Program Manager to join our team at OCHA. This is a critical role that will play a key part in shaping the organization's environmental policy and strategy.

About Us

OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) is a vital part of the United Nations Secretariat, responsible for coordinating humanitarian action worldwide. We work closely with governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other partners to ensure timely and effective delivery of humanitarian assistance to people affected by crises.

Job Summary

The Senior Environmental Program Manager will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of programs and projects related to environmental management and sustainability. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement initiatives that promote environmentally friendly practices and reduce the organization's environmental footprint.

This position requires strong leadership and coordination skills, as well as experience in managing complex projects and teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental issues and a proven track record of success in developing and implementing sustainable solutions.

The salary for this role is approximately $80,000-$110,000 per year, depending on location and qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Environmental Program Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures that align with the organization's overall strategy;
  • Leading cross-functional teams to design and implement projects and initiatives related to environmental management and sustainability;
  • Collaborating with external partners, including NGOs, government agencies, and private sector companies, to leverage resources and expertise;
  • Managing budgets and resources to ensure successful project execution;
  • Evaluating and reporting on project progress and outcomes.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field;
  • At least 10 years of experience in environmental program management, with a focus on sustainability and stakeholder engagement;
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing complex projects and initiatives;
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills, with experience in managing cross-functional teams;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders;
  • Familiarity with the UN system and its policies and procedures is highly desirable.
