Director of Oligonucleotide Research and Development

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our oligonucleotide research and development team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving innovation and growth in our oligonucleotide business unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes from synthesis to final API in collaboration with customers and internal research projects.
  • Lead a team of group leaders, chemists, and laboratory technicians in the development and optimization of oligonucleotide manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with business development team to identify and evaluate innovative technologies and new reagents/materials.
  • Represent Bachem at customer visits and conferences, and prepare presentations as required.
  • Oversee process development and manufacturing activities to ensure deadlines are met and projects are completed within budget.
Requirements:
  • PhD degree in chemistry or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience leading a team, preferably in research and development.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in oligonucleotide chemistry, preferably in process development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with German an advantage.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with high level of flexibility and ability to work in a team.
