About the Role
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is seeking a highly skilled Legal Advisor to join its Intellectual Property Management and Knowledge Transfer Policies Section. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Organization with intellectual property-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and reviewing agreements related to CERN's knowledge transfer activities, including license agreements and R&D agreements with other scientific institutes, start-ups, and industry.
- Providing legal assistance on intellectual property-related matters to CERN personnel and various CERN units.
- Addressing policy matters related to intellectual property and knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Professional experience and skills in intellectual property, new technologies, and licensing acquired in a law firm, industry, or scientific institutes with international exposure.
- Fluency in English (both oral and written).
- Ability to work well autonomously and in teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A bar exam admission will be an asset.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: You are a national of a country.
- Professional background: You have a professional background in Intellectual Property Law (or a related field) and have either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
- CERN experience: You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
What We Offer
- A monthly stipend ranging between 6212 and 6828 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).
- Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse, and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
- Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child, and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
- 30 days of paid leave per year.
- On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
