Program Officer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Officer to join our team at WIPO. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of projects to establish new Intellectual Property Training Institutions (IPTIs), particularly in Arab countries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of projects to establish new IPTIs, including organizing training of trainers' programs and overseeing the design and implementation of pilot skills-based programs.
- Prepare responses to new requests for cooperation and support the processes to assess IP education needs from requesting countries and pre-required conditions for project implementation.
- Support the design and monitor the implementation of cooperation projects jointly implemented with established IPTIs, particularly from Arab countries.
- Participate in the elaboration of reports, briefing notes, and background documents on ongoing projects, including preparing first drafts, collecting data, and searching information.
- Contribute to activities organized by the IPTI network, particularly for a wider promotion of the network in Arab countries.
- Support the launching of collective resources to address the common needs of IPTIs, particularly from the Arab Region.
- Provide logistical and substantive support for the organization of meetings with key contacts in Member States, elicit information and feedback, and give presentations on the Academy and project activities, as required.
Requirements:
- First-level university degree in international relations, political science, law, education, social science, or another related field.
- At least three years of professional experience at the national and international level, including in the field of IP education.
- Experience in IP training projects and adult learning activities.
- Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English and Arabic.
Competencies:
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Proven abilities in project management, especially in project design.
- Sound political judgment and capacity to work well with a range of actors and across all levels of seniority.
- Analytical and conceptual skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Working Conditions:
- WIPO staff members are international civil servants subject to the authority of the Director General and may be assigned to any activities, office, or duty station of the Organization.
- The selected candidate may be required to move from time to time to new functions and/or to another duty station.
Salary:
- Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment.
- The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice.
- The figures quoted below are based on the June 2024 rate of 88.5%.
