About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. As a key member of our Experimental Physics Department, you will play a vital role in designing and building complex systems for one of the world's largest particle-physics experiments.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • Design and integrate new service-flexible chains, interacting with suppliers and preparing technical specifications and procurement documents.
  • Participate in organizing CAD models within our PLM system and create simplified and configurable models to describe opening configurations and procedures.
  • Contribute to design installation tooling, support structures, or integration studies for various upgrade projects within the ATLAS Phase 2 program.
  • Collaborate with other team members to manage integration, define envelopes, and participate in safety and operations efforts.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

Technical Competencies:

  • Experience in mechanical design and integration within an engineering environment, including strong knowledge of relevant software (e.g., CATIA / PLM / Smarteam).
  • Familiarity with FEA calculation of mechanical structures in static and dynamic conditions.
  • Ability to produce 2D drawings and 3D models.

Salary and Benefits:

This position comes with a competitive salary ranging from CHF 5,134 to CHF 5,647 per month (net of tax). You will also receive comprehensive health insurance, pension fund membership, and additional benefits such as installation grants, family allowances, and payment of travel expenses.
