Electronics and Control Systems Engineer
Vor 6 Tagen
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is a world-leading particle physics research organization. We are probing the fundamental structure of the universe using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments.
Job Description
We are seeking an Electronics and Control Systems Engineer to join our team dedicated to developing and optimizing innovative software and hardware solutions for control and safety systems in critical domains.
This role involves designing, implementing, and testing components for Magnet Safety and Control Systems, ensuring their readiness for the upcoming LS3 Technical Stop upgrade. You will collaborate closely with physicists, engineers, and technicians to understand and address project requirements for the Magnet Control and Safety System upgrade.
As a key member of the team, you will participate in the design and testing of advanced electronic interfaces embedded within these systems, lead testing, installation, and calibration of electronic components for superconducting magnets used in ATLAS and CMS experiments, and document designs and processes.
You will also support operations by participating in 24/7 magnet stand-by duty, ensuring the reliable and safe operation of these critical systems.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A degree in Electronic or Electrical engineering (or a related field) with a strong background in analog electronics circuit design and a solid understanding of low-voltage electrical power distribution systems.
- Familiarity with PLC and LabVIEW programming is considered a valuable asset.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluent in English; the ability to work in French would be an advantage.
What We Offer
- A monthly stipend ranging between CHF 5,134 and CHF 5,647.
- Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
- Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child, and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
- 30 days of paid leave per year.
- On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
