Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Job Summary:
CERN is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team. As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the conceptual design, construction, operation, and maintenance of beam-intercepting devices across CERN's accelerator complex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the 3D integration of future beam dumps using CATIA, with the support of designers and integrators
- Coordinate the production of production drawings
- Manage material procurement to produce three beam dumps, demonstrating a strong understanding of industrial processes
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager responsible for the beam dumps to monitor production and assembly progresses
- Perform the installation of beam dumps in the accelerator facility and conduct on-line commissioning tests to ensure operational readiness
- Provide mechanical support for activities within the accelerator complex and assist in the operation of the mechanical workshop
Requirements:
- A qualification in Mechanical, Aerospace or Nuclear Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, integration completed by in-field tests
- CAD systems, 3D and 2D drawing
- Assembling, and testing precision mechanics
- Good communication, well-organized with accountability
- Working in a team, as well as independently
- Ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams
- Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage
