Vacuum Technology Specialist for LHC Project

Job Description

This role involves working on the development of vacuum technology competences, specifically helium leak detection. You will be responsible for designing and producing clamshell tools for leak detection in helium transfer lines of the high-luminosity LHC project. Additionally, you will test and validate these tools in a laboratory setting, as well as identify and catalog them for future use at CERN.

You will also be part of a team responsible for the installation, commissioning, and operation of insulation vacuum systems of new high-luminosity test benches, which comprise superconducting magnets and cryogenic high-current distribution lines.

About the Job
  • The ideal candidate should have experience with traditional manufacturing techniques, including turning and milling capabilities.
  • Prior knowledge of 3D modeling skills using CATIA is also required.
  • Familiarity with 3D manufacturing technologies and basic knowledge of vacuum techniques and engineering are essential.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong technical skills, particularly in mechanical engineering and fabrication.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
