Job Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Geneva. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components for our power conversion systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components for power conversion systems, including power stacks, enclosures, and subassemblies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions.
- Generate manufacturing and assembly drawings and bill of materials.
- Maintain product data in our electronic document management system and ERP.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new products and technologies.
- Collaborate with the sales department to analyze customer needs and provide design solutions.
- Work closely with the purchasing department to qualify suppliers and negotiate contracts.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of validation tests for prototypes.
- Participate in the industrialization of new products and maintenance of existing ones.
Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering studies such as University Degree or Higher Technical Diploma.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the Power Conversion field within at least 5 years of experience in general mechanical engineering background.
- Excellent English communication skills, French or Spanish is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in 3D CAD design tools (SolidWorks, Catia, Solid Edge, Autodesk Inventor...).
- Experience in mechanical design for medium-size power converters, battery storage, and cooling systems in the range of 1-10 MW.
- Design of power stacks, metal sheet, cabinet profiles, and copper/aluminum busbars.
- Knowledge on electrical insulation devices and techniques.
- Availability to travel up to 10%.
- Liquid and forced air cooling of power converters.
- Design for outdoor application (high IP and containers).
- Electrical knowledge of power conversion principles and devices (IGBTs, diode rectifiers, thyristor...).
- Knowledge on mechanical and thermal stress calculations and simulations.
- Familiarity with power converters related standards and norms, as IEC61439 and IEC62477.
