Job Title: Geomechanical Engineer
About the Role:
CERN's Environment Group is seeking a Geomechanical Engineer to contribute to the Future Circular Collider study. The successful candidate will develop requirements, architecture, and design for a modular excavated materials treatment plant with industrial partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather technical requirements for excavated materials treatment and processing.
- Work with industrial suppliers to design a modular treatment plant incorporating eco-design principles.
- Lead prototyping activities for excavated materials characterization.
- Participate in feasibility tests for excavated material reuse pathways.
- Liaise with the civil engineering team.
- Develop a management plan for excavated materials.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Master's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in excavated materials treatment and processing, solid knowledge of gathering and documenting requirements, application of environmental regulations, and eco-design principles.
Language Skills: Spoken and written English or French. Ability to understand and speak the other language in professional contexts.
