Empa, a leading research institution in the ETH Domain, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join its Biointerfaces Laboratory. Our team is dedicated to advancing the understanding of bacteria-material interactions and developing innovative antimicrobial solutions.
Research FocusThe successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary project focused on designing novel, non-toxic, and durable antimicrobial coatings. This project aims to address the growing challenge of infections caused by resistant bacteria, leveraging cutting-edge research and collaborative efforts with Swiss companies.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate bacteria-material interactions to develop innovative antimicrobial surfaces.
- Conduct physicochemical characterization of bacterial and material properties.
- Explore how material properties influence bacterial viability and biofilm formation.
- Identify and elucidate the mode of actions of bacterial killing.
- PhD degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Materials Science, or related disciplines.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage scientific projects efficiently.
- Hands-on experience in bacterial handling, wet chemistry, and material synthesis.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
