About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Cantina, a Gault Millau POP awarded Peruvian restaurant in the heart of Zurich.

As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen staff, ensuring smooth daily operations, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook dishes according to the restaurant's menu and standards, ensuring high-quality presentation and flavor.
  • Assist in creating new menu items and specials, working closely with the Head Chef to develop innovative and delicious dishes.
  • Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they follow proper cooking techniques and hygiene practices.
  • Monitor stock levels, report any shortages or issues to the Head Chef, and assist with ordering and receiving ingredients.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel, restaurant, or similar establishment.
  • High attention to detail, with a focus on quality and presentation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Conversational English required, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
