Strategic Production Optimization Lead

Job Description:

The SHL Group is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Production Optimization Lead to join our team in Zug, Switzerland.

This role will play a critical part in ensuring that our global production capacity aligns with customer demand across all regions worldwide. As the Strategic Production Optimization Lead, you will develop and implement a global production strategy that aligns with the organization's overall business goals.

You will be responsible for maintaining a balance between supply and demand to meet global customer needs efficiently and ensuring customer satisfaction across global operations. This involves optimizing production schedules, solving bottleneck (capacity constraints), and ensuring timely delivery of products.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Capacity Planning: Assess production capabilities at all sites to ensure they meet forecasted demand. Plan and allocate production resources efficiently across various locations together with local teams.
  • Production Scheduling: Together with local teams, develop and manage production schedules that align with global demand forecasts. Ensure production plans are feasible and optimized for efficiency.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels across our sites to ensure they are aligned with production plans. Balance the need for sufficient stock to meet demand without overproducing.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Work closely with global customer demand and supply planners as well as local production planners to balance capacity effectively. Communicate production plans and changes to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Process Standardization: Develop and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) across all production sites to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Technology and Systems Integration of ERP and Planning Systems: Implement and manage ERP utilization and production planning systems to enable real-time data sharing and decision-making across global sites.
  • Automation and Innovation: Leverage new technologies such as IoT, AI, and automation to enhance production efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production efficiency, order fulfilment rates, and inventory turnover. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential hazards to production capacity and develop contingency plans. Mitigate risks related to production capacity, such as equipment failures or supply shortages.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices in production planning and supply chain management. Drive initiatives to improve production processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years' professional experience in roles related to production planning, manufacturing, supply chain management, or operations management, preferably in a global context.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of identifying issues in complex environments and developing practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to communicate and coordinate plans and changes effectively across various teams, hierarchical levels, and cultural differences.
  • Technical proficiency with ERP systems, advanced planning tools, and other relevant technologies.
  • Project management skills, proficient in managing multiple projects and coordinating activities across different departments.
  • A high level of business acumen and customer centricity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAP ERP (HANA S4) expertise is mandatory.
  • Other computer skills include Advanced Planning System (e.g., SAP IBP) and Microsoft suite proficiency.
Language Skills:
  • Mandatory: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Desirable: Fluency in Swiss German or Mandarin.
