Job Opportunity in Digital Finance

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) in a PhD position focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Finance. This exciting opportunity is part of the MSCA Industrial Doctoral Network on Digital Finance, a European-wide doctorate in Digital Finance, with leading institutions such as the European Central Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and innovation projects focused on data science, AI, and machine learning applications in finance, in collaboration with industry and academic experts from Switzerland and abroad.
  • Participate in a specialized training program on Digital Finance created at the European level from a consortium of leading industry and academic experts.
  • Work on industry-relevant topics on AI in Finance, with topics subject to change.
  • Spent at least 18 months in industry, with expected placements at the European Central Bank and the Bank for International Settlements.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Information Technology, Computational Science, or related fields.
  • Strong passion and outstanding skills in data science and experience working with programming languages and statistical software such as Python, R, C++.
  • Knowledge on quantitative modeling of financial markets, econometric techniques, machine learning, or quantitative empirical research methods.
  • Ability to work on real-world problems in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment.
  • Good communication skills and an excellent command of English.
