Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT Department's Systems & Storage team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable and secure Linux-based systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable and secure Linux-based systems and infrastructure.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure systems are designed to meet business needs.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture and processes.
- Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for Linux-related issues.
- Automate system administration tasks using frameworks such as Ansible or Terraform.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering role.
- Proven experience in managing complex IT environments and contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Extensive experience in alternate industries such as telco, manufacturing, aviation, or pharmaceuticals.
- Strong understanding of server infrastructure, cloud computing, SAN, NAS, and DAS, storage and distributed storage architecture.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working with multi-functional technical and business teams.
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (puppet, ansible, terraform, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LXC, KVM, VMWare, proxmox, containerd, podman.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Rust,.Net, C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Go.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes Infrastructure management (Juju/MaaS/CDK, openshift, foreman).
- Linux certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification), or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of network architecture and cybersecurity.
