Head of International Partnerships

Biovision is a pioneering non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting ecological development and sustainable food systems. Our core theme revolves around the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 at both international and national levels, with a primary focus on SDG 2, 'No Hunger'.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Lead the International Partnerships Department with a flat hierarchical structure, ensuring adequate participation from the team.
- Resource Management: Develop and implement strategies for resource planning and controlling, including staff and budget allocation, instalment schedules, financial auditing, and processes with partner organizations.
- Team Development: Foster a culture of growth and responsibility within the team, promoting co-learning with partner organizations and enabling team members to assume leadership roles.
- Risk Management: Oversee risk and security management, including project portfolio and partnerships, staff safety, and security during project visits.
- Process Optimization: Refine and implement efficient key processes, particularly project cycle management, to ensure smooth operations.
- Partnership Development: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with research institutions, allies, and thematic experts, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Project Management: Manage and steer a portfolio of projects in East Africa focusing on agroecology, food systems transformation, and agricultural development, bridging the gap between science and farmers.
- Project Monitoring: Monitor project progress and key interventions based on evidence, ensuring the delivery of project outcomes from a technical, financial, and administrative perspective.
- Experience: At least 8 years of relevant work experience in international cooperation, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Leadership: Proven leadership skills with at least 5 years of experience in leading a team of peers.
- Network: An existing network with international and pan-African development and research institutions is highly valued.
- Education: A relevant Master's degree in agriculture, geography, environmental sciences, or related fields, ideally complemented by a postgraduate degree in development studies.
- Skills: Experience in project cycle management, familiarity with key approaches of international development cooperation, research for development, knowledge dissemination, and agroecological approaches.
- Language: Excellent knowledge of German (C1) and English (C1/C2), with good command of French (B1/B2).
- Cultural Competence: Cultural sensitivity for working with diverse stakeholders and readiness to travel 1-2 times per year, mainly to Sub-Saharan Africa.
