About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Underwriter to join our team in Zurich. As a Junior Underwriter, you will play a key role in supporting our senior professionals in analyzing and managing financial risks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing meetings and business trips, ensuring all necessary information is gathered and presented in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with Underwriters to collect and analyze data, identify risk factors, and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks.
  • Provide high-quality data entry and support Underwriting Assistants in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your skills and knowledge, ensuring you are equipped to take on more complex tasks and responsibilities.
  • Support Underwriters in analyzing, reviewing, and monitoring accounts, as well as pricing Credit/Surety/Political Risks programs in accordance with Everest Re guidelines.
  • Attend industry events and market visits with Senior Underwriters to develop and maintain relationships with cedents and brokers.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Pricing Actuaries to ensure accurate and timely pricing of risks.
  • Review and process claims with Underwriters and the Claims Department in accordance with Everest Re guidelines.
  • Analyze and monitor our book of business, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure effective communication with accounting to facilitate exchanges and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support the exposure control process, ensuring that all risks are properly assessed and managed.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate in a relevant subject or holding a comparable recognized insurance qualification.
  • A few years of prior experience in Financial Risks or another line of business would be an advantage.
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive to progress to a senior role, while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Enthusiastic and forward-looking mindset, with a focus on delivering results and exceeding expectations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Technical, analytical, and result-oriented mindset, with a strong understanding of MS-Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Proficient and effective knowledge of English is a prerequisite, with additional language skills being an advantage.
