As a Marine Underwriter at AXA XL, you will play a key role in developing innovative and tailor-made solutions for Marine Cargo and Freight Forwarder risks. Your expertise and proactive approach will be highly valued, and you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic team that encourages collaboration and teamwork.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing customer submissions and calculating appropriate risk premium;
  • Drawing up insurance solutions tailored to customers' needs, including editing wordings;
  • Conducting risk visits together with brokers and our Risk Consulting team to identify, analyze and evaluate site-specific risks;
  • Building long-term relationships with customers, brokers and other AXA entities;
  • Collaborating across departments such as Underwriting, Claims, Finance and other internal teams;
  • Participating and supporting internal strategic projects;
  • Customizing communication and project updates appropriate to the audience, ensuring content appeals to the core interests and values of the client and business partners;
  • Partnering with the business to determine objectives of negotiation, including additional services, optimal value, and favorable contract terms;
  • Consulting with other subject matter advisors to ensure that the best interests of AXA XL are represented in negotiations;
  • Developing, recommending and championing continuous improvement efforts;
  • Staying ahead of industry developments and best practices and making recommendations where applicable;

Requirements for the role include:

  • Professional experience in the insurance, logistics and trading industry, ideally 5 years or more;
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, efficient and able to work independently by structuring the path forward;
  • Well-spoken and a communicative, confident and discrete manner towards clients and business partners;
  • Motivated and solution-oriented personality that thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic and high energy environment;
  • Proficient in standard MS Office tools;
  • Linguistic proficiency in German and English and/or French.
