Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Specialist to join our team at SIX Payment Services. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our database systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively process database change requests according to our Kanban board, including scripting and documentation.
  • Analyze SQL query performance to optimize access in collaboration with our development teams.
  • Configure and monitor database replication streams.
  • Plan and execute database migrations from development to production.
  • Develop and maintain our existing documentation and script library.
  • Monitor application queues at the server class level and take proactive measures to prevent issues.
  • Ensure that our database systems are properly dimensioned to prevent overflows.
  • Participate in the planning of hardware capacity expansions.
  • Support our release manager in creating the release schedule.
  • Optimize our database deployment process.
  • Maintain our MySQL database and make configuration adjustments as needed.
  • Evaluate configuration files and initiate necessary measures to ensure proper dimensioning before go-live.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience with relational database systems, including SQL and Access.
  • Experience in performance analysis of database queries and accesses.
  • Coaching and supporting development teams in database design and access optimization options.
  • Creating scripts to port changed databases from development to production.
  • Managing, extending, and modernizing our script tool library using technologies such as DOS, BASH, and VisualBasic.
  • Knowledge of Java, C, and VisualBasic is an advantage.
  • Experience with Jenkins and GIT, as well as the HPNS platform, is an advantage.
  • Collaboration in capacity planning of the platform and application.
  • Good written and spoken German and/or French, with business fluent English skills.
