Job Title: Global Head of Procurement

Straumann Group Headquarters, Basel, Switzerland

The Global Head of Procurement is a senior leadership position based in the Group Headquarters in Basel and reports directly to the Group CFO. The primary objective is to evolve the current decentralized procurement functions to a more integrated, trusted, and impactful globally operating procurement organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the transformation of the global procurement organization, defining and implementing an innovative procurement strategy that drives the decentralized functions into an integrated, trusted, and impactful global organization.
  • Establish and monitor strategic KPIs related to procurement activities, ensuring alignment with annual savings targets and overall organizational goals.
  • Develop and drive a strategic framework for category and supplier management, achieving a best-value position with suppliers through tendering, competitive benchmarking, and negotiation.
  • Initiate and lead change and cost reduction programs, deriving and executing tactics for the purchasing strategy to deliver year-over-year savings.
  • Champion the adoption of e-procurement and advanced digital technologies to increase efficiency, streamline processes, and implement lean, agile procurement practices.
  • Integrate sustainability into the procurement strategy, ensuring that supplier practices align with the Group's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
  • Lead the implementation of supplier management best practices, including certification programs, performance reviews, and strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Build a robust and resilient procurement organization by developing both transactional and strategic procurement teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a dynamic international business environment, focusing on procurement, sourcing, and supplier management.
  • Proven track record of delivering year-over-year savings in an international context, with demonstrated ability to drive cost reductions and lead transformative change projects globally.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills, with sound financial acumen and the ability to employ various negotiation styles effectively.
  • Experience working with supply chain and material planning functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a global and matrix organization.
  • Proficient understanding of key contractual terms and the ability to define and manage respective contracts and supplier relations commercially.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience using IT and ERP systems, preferably within a SAP landscape.
