Job Description
The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of field operations and construction management for assigned projects, ensuring work meets project objectives and requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple small to large-scale projects with budgets exceeding $25MM.
- Implement and maintain effective project management systems in collaboration with the project team.
- Determine construction staffing needs, roles, and responsibilities under CRB corporate policies and management guidance.
- Assist with pre-construction activities related to assigned project work.
- Develop or assist in creating project budgets.
- Work with the estimating department to prepare buy-out plans.
- Collaborate with the procurement department to develop procurement strategies.
- Create project execution plans.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive construction safety program.
- Coordinate with engineering consultants.
- Review and approve construction operation plans.
- Approve project change order requests.
- Review and approve applications for payment.
- Provide monthly forecasting for all projects, including internal general conditions costs.
- Evaluate potential risks affecting the project.
- Administer contract documents according to company policies and procedures.
- Engage in client meetings and visits to coordinate construction requirements with design operations.
- Offer support and guidance to project personnel.
- Establish and maintain labor relations programs when working with union contractors.
- Keep management informed about project developments affecting profit, costs, schedules, and client relations.
- Maintain open communication between clients and subcontractors to ensure timely information exchange.
- Develop and distribute monthly status reports to inform management on construction progress, direct and indirect construction costs, and other project activities.
- Oversee project closeout activities.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent.
- At least 20 years of successful project management experience.
- A team-oriented individual capable of managing others.
- Demonstrated success in managing the construction scope on mid-sized projects.
- Design/Build experience is beneficial.
- Maintenance of OSHA 30 hour training is required.
- A minimum of 8 hours of leadership/supervisory training annually is necessary.
- A valid work permit for Switzerland/Germany or the ability to obtain one is essential.
- Language skills: fluency in German (C1+) is preferred, and proficiency in English (B1+).
- Willingness to travel and work on project sites in the DACH region.
