Biomarker Experimental Medicine Lead

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Biomarker Experimental Medicine Lead to join our Translational Medicine Group in the Ophthalmology department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing forward and reverse translational biomarker strategies during pre-clinical and clinical phases of individual drug development programs or research collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement biomarker-related activities for quantifying drug response and selecting patients for personalized healthcare.
- Lead the BioX Expert Team as a Matrix Leader and collaborate with academic, industry, internal, and external experts in biomarker, experimental medicine, and natural history studies.
- Provide scientific and strategic input into overall drug and clinical development plans and ensure that biomarker-related activities are fit-for-purpose and drive decision-making.
Requirements
- PhD and/or MD degree with at least 8-10 years of prior relevant experience in research, industry, or clinical settings, supported by a strong publication record or equivalent contributions.
- At least 5 years of exposure to translational and/or clinical development of biomarkers, including protein, metabolites, genetic, imaging, and functional biomarkers, in the context of pharmaceutical industry either in research or clinical settings.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional matrix teams, drive team decisions, and prioritize work to focus on individual goals and team deliverables.
- Good understanding of methodological and bioanalytical approaches and the ability to generate, integrate, and interpret pre-clinical, clinical, and drug development data to enable proof of biology, dose selection, and safety across clinical programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in Ophthalmology is a valuable asset.
