Digital Biomarker Algorithm R&D Manager

About the Role

Roche is seeking a highly skilled Algorithm R&D Manager to join our Digital Biomarker team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our library of signal processing algorithms to extract meaningful features from raw sensor data collected with our digital health technology tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop novel and improve existing algorithms to extract meaningful features from raw sensor data
  • Develop and execute strategies for validation of algorithms and devices
  • Co-develop the roadmap for library maintenance and extension with the technical product owner of the library
  • Support and build the lifecycle of algorithm development from early research up to a computer system validated algorithm to be used in our products
  • Work together with the dBM scientific solutions lead and the dBM data solutions lead to support the development of novel data insights products around our digital health technology tools
  • Support the UI/UX design of novel digital health technologies to ensure meaningful data collection from an algorithmic perspective

Requirements

  • Very good university degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, natural science or informatics
  • 5+ year of hands-on experience with signal processing accelerometer, gyroscope, audio data collected with digital health technologies, optimally collected in neurological diseases in a clinical trial context
  • Understanding of the V3 framework and similar approaches
  • Track record of algorithm validation
  • ML/AI experience
  • Experience in working in a goal-oriented manner with the customer in mind
  • Strong experience with analyzing and visualizing large data sets
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a large team and managing your time against competing demands
  • Track record of writing compelling publications in high impact, peer reviewed journals
  • Profound knowledge in Python (optional: R or similar software packages/languages)
  • Excellent in English; excellent writing skills
