The internship positions are located in the Trade Facilitation Section, Economic Cooperation and Trade Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe based in Geneva.
**Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer, the interns are expected to contribute to the work of the Trade Facilitation Section as follows:
a) Provide analysis assistance in the contribution to the United Nations Geographical Name Database by mapping the cities in the database to the United Nations Code for Trade and Transport Locations (UN/LOCODE);
b) Provide general communications and outreach assistance and to support the Trade Facilitation Section through various tasks related to communications (e.g. desk research, drafting of news pieces and managing the webpage and producing social media content);
c) Prepare inputs for reports and other documents;
d) Assist in the organisation and servicing of face-to-face and virtual meetings, (e.g. provide organizational, communications content-related or/and general assistance);
e) Provide research assistance on issues related to the themes of economic cooperation and trade, electronic business standards and electronic certificates management (research feeding into e.g. speaking notes, concept notes, briefing papers);
f) Provide liaison assistance with other international organizations; and
g) Perform other related duties as required.

To qualify for the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
For this internship, - studies in economics, social or political studies or equivalent are required;
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable.
