UNEP is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.
The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work 35 hours five days per week.
**Responsibilities**:
Under the direct supervision of the Programmer Officer, the intern contribute to the RMB work on inclusive green economy, including topics such as sustainable infrastructure, fiscal policies and trade and further supporting related activities under PAGE. Notably, the intern will assist with communication activities and liaising with partners. Daily responsibilities may vary depending on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in research-based tasks associated with Green Economy in PAGE countries
- Conducting editorial review of project documents
- Carrying out background research, including data collection and draft inputs to support the development of working papers and studies related to Green Economy;
- Organizing and updating power point presentations
- Working on web development and online presentation of materials
- Managing mailing lists, social networks and networks of experts and professionals
- Drafting executive summarizing for reports regarding PAGE activities
- Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings, including providing technical assistance during virtually-held meetings (webinars)
- Assisting with other tasks associated with the implementation of PAGE activities,
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of intern training tools and guidelines

Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
Education
Masters in Communications, International Relations or Environmental Issues.
- Be enrolled in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) programme;
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
