**Mergers and Acquisitions Manager**:

The Strategy and M&A function aspires to be a trusted advisor and partner to the Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) division, providing strategic guidance and support that helps drive profitability, growth, innovation, and long-term value creation. In your role, you will: Drive strategic growth and value creation through the successful development and execution of our M&A strategy. Lead the strategic development of M&A blueprints and corresponding search fields, drive origination and pipeline development, and spearhead our PAEN division due diligence processes. Foster a collaborative cross-industry, cross-regional, and cross-functional approach, maximizing synergies, navigating industry complexities, and identifying growth opportunities to position ABB Energy Industries at the forefront of the evolving energy landscape.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Define, together with Head of Strategy and M&A and relevant senior management, the division’s overall M&A strategy in a highly dynamic environment
- Lead and define the origination process, including defining search fields, identifying and evaluating potential investment and partnership opportunities, ensuring collaboration with regional and industry division leadership
- Perform comprehensive commercial due diligence on potential targets, including market analysis, competitor analysis, customer analysis, product/service value proposition evaluation, business case development, risk assessment, and potential value creation opportunities
- Lead the preparation of investment proposals/deal theses for senior management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the energy division (and potentially with other ABB divisions) to assess strategic fit and synergy potential of potential acquisitions
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies within the energy sector to identify new growth opportunities
- Collaborate with Process Automation Mergers and Acquisitions team on valuation of assets, deal terms, and execution of investments
- Liaise with external parties (e.g., lawyers, bankers, consultants, management of potential acquisition targets) to manage due diligence processes and negotiate deal terms

**Your background**:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, or engineering. Advanced degree (MBA, MS) is preferred.
- Proven experience (5-10 years) in strategy, corporate development, or consulting roles, preferably within the energy industry and with a focus on M&A
- Strong understanding of the energy industry landscape, including Oil and Gas, Chemical and Refining, Power and Water, as well as with growing energy transition areas (e.g., renewables, hydrogen, decarbonization solutions)
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting commercial due diligence processes
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and assess potential investment opportunities
- Strong project management abilities, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional and global teams and engage with senior leader-ship
- Familiarity with ABB's process automation technology, automation, electrification, and digitalization offerings is a plus
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with mínimal supervision
- Collaborative and proactive approach: Work well in cross-functional teams, collaborating with colleagues across different departments and geographies. Global mindset, inter-cultural sensitivity
- Fluency in English is essential (both written and spoken)
- Willingness to travel as required for deal-related activities
