Purpose
Support the Claims Department by setting up claims, inputting notes, setting up reserves as directed or within authority with the guidance of the supervising manager. Responsible for assisting in the processing of broker statement and bordereaux processing to ensure all financial bookings are in the claims system of record and in line with reporting requirements. The focus is on French claims across all lines of business out of our European entity based in Zurich.
Experience
1-3 years plus (re)insurance Claims experience preferred. Ability to understand the (re)insurance coverage issues and desire to learn and advance in the (re)insurance claims profession.
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred; competent and focused mathematical, linguistic, and analytical abilities, system and workflow processes, a plus.
Technical & Functional
Knowledge
- Academic: Will be expected to possess and develop knowledge of (re)insurance claims handling and bordereau processing.
- Reinsurance: Insurance/Reinsurance experience is required. We will expect the individual will be able to develop their knowledge of insurance and reinsurance terminology, LOB specific insurance coverages, reinsurance treaty terms and conditions and contract language.
- Reserving: Understands reserving processes of the Claims Department.
- Contract Interpretation: Ability to read and understand terms of a reinsurance contract and the ability to recognize contract coverage issues and seek out further advice.
**Skills**:
- Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally whether in oral or written form. English and French language skills are required.
- Process Management: Developing ability to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously; uses time and resources effectively and efficiently; accurately assesses the scope of tasks, sets reasonable goals and objectives, and develops efficient and effective work strategies; focuses efforts on priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with account colleagues to ensure accuracy of bookings and interpretation of claim presentations.
- Quality Assurance: Review all work for accuracy, completeness, and soundness of assumptions; ensure that all claims are processed, and claims are reserved with reasonable analysis in accordance with experienced claims handling processes. Ability to understand the need to seek out expertise from others.
