Having integrated and flown 4 electric airplanes, the Swiss start-up has been selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide the battery pack for its regional hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. This recent announcement is a further illustration of H55’s position as a **major enabler in the electric commuter market.**
H55 is financed by a reputable group of investors from Silicon Valley and Switzerland, and as such, is well positioned for its next stage of its development. The company’s short-term priorities include building up out of engineering team, putting into place production facilities, and creating a north American subsidiary.
At H55, you will work with a very forward-looking team who are changing the paradigms of air transportation. H55 is composed of highly experienced engineers, entrepreneurs and managers and is seeking like mind talented professionals who understand how to couple creativity and innovation with technical and business considerations.
**Your Role**
As the Head of Systems Engineering you will be responsible for managing the execution of all areas of the Verification and Validation life cycle; this will include (but not be limited to) liaising with our customers and internal company departments, defining/managing the overall product life cycle processes, requirements cascade, deriving system architectures in response to customer requirements, managing engineering trades as well as managing change throughout the development programme. You will report directly to the Head of Engineering. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating, performing, and sustaining development activities of the team required to support certification, production and installation of electric propulsion systems
- Creating and maintaining development project schedules, resource assignments, and budgets. This includes the establishment of development and certification milestones required to complete projects.
- Developing and defining the system-level design concepts that meet the mission needs of our customers
- Supporting all levels of requirements management (definition, development and verification), and managing all associated change in system requirements with all impacted stakeholder, both internal and external.
- Managing all engineering disciplines needed to develop system requirements and architectures and establish systems capabilities and operational concepts
- Managing system engineering development activities including system architecture, specification development, requirement definition and allocation, performance analysis and simulation, system modeling and simulation tool development, support to hardware design, manufacturing, integration, bench, ground and flight test
- Conducting reviews of design data, analyses and test procedures pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials and reports to ensure technical maturity and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. Reviews entail advanced engineering principles, company standards, and procedures. Determines required actions and performs follow-up activities.
- Reviewing drawings and reports to ensure conformity to established internal or external standards. As required, checks for document clarity for; completeness, correctness, conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies. Directs revisions and improvements to engineers.
- Providing leadership, training, and mentoring to development engineers. Ensuring your team is current and trained. Coordinating, performing, and sustaining development activities of the team as required to support certification, production and installation of aircraft equipment
**Your Profile**
- University degree (min. bachelor) in a relevant engineering discipline (System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems)
- Thorough knowledge of the involved engineering disciplines, to mentor and coach team members
- Demonstrated experience and expertise as team leader typically 5+ years
- Good understanding of aviation standards in the field of activity
- Resource, organisation and budget management skills
- Basic understanding of EASA Part 21, EASA Certification Specifications and certification principles
- Demonstrated success in working as a team player, capable of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and skillsets
