The Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chains (AMSC) Centre provides a unique global platform for stakeholders to join forces and shape a future of production that works for all - i.e., companies, workers, society, and the environment. It helps companies and governments understand and anticipate the ongoing transformation of production systems and offers latest knowledge and insights to inform decision-making. The AMSC Centre drives action and impact by driving initiatives and partnerships aimed at:- Shaping and scaling new strategies for engaging and augmenting the manufacturing workforce, enabling continuous learning and training, and making manufacturing more attractive for new generations- Determining and forging new approaches to accelerate the decarbonisation of manufacturing facilities and supply chains, while enabling circularity and boosting productivity, agility, and efficiency- Supporting local and national economies in the development of the next generation industrial strategies, to boost the competitiveness of their manufacturing sectors
Within this framework, we are seeking a new Director or Executive level professional as Head for the AMSC Centre who will be responsible for developing and implementing its expansion strategy, further growing the community of stakeholders engaged, and taking all efforts the next stage of impact.
Reporting lines and interactions
This role will report to a Managing Director of the World Economic Forum and lead a dedicated team of experts managing the activities, initiatives and community of stakeholders engaged in the Centre.
Internally, the Head will work with colleagues in the Business Engagement team, in the Regional Engagement, Program and Events teams as well as the Heads of other Centres.
Externally, interactions will occur with a broad range of stakeholders in partner companies, governments, international organizations, academia, and civil society.
Breakdown of main responsibilities- Strategy design and delivery: Be responsible for the development and overall implementation of the Centre’s strategy, by building on previous and ongoing work, and taking a systemic approach to identify and address the strategic priorities of the organizations involved; This includes setting the direction for the entire portfolio of initiatives and activities, which are driven in collaboration with constituents within the platform provided by the Centre.- Stakeholder engagement and management: Develop a comprehensive plan to attract and engage most relevant stakeholders for the Centre, and establish solid relations aimed at incubating and driving collective action and impact with C-suites, ministers and leaders from academia and civil society.- Partner development: Support partner development efforts by building relations with potential partner companies and defining tailored engagement opportunities and plans, in line with companies’ strategic priorities.- Team management: Ensure team delivery on agreed objectives and targets; Support team members by creating safe spaces and opportunities for learning and development, identifying and sharing best practices, and co-driving efforts in their own respective portfolios.- Cross-team value delivery: Build trusted relations with colleagues from across other Centres and teams, to leverage their expertise and engage in a joint learning journey; Work with colleagues to contribute to the development and implementation of the broader Forum’s strategy.- Successful design and delivery of a coherent strategy, based on impact achieved by the overall Centre, and number and quality of collective efforts incubated, launched and brought to scale within the framework of the Centre.- Performance against targets in terms of numbers and relevance of organizations actively engaged in the Centre, and specific actions to support partner development efforts.- Ability to generate and disseminate new insights, to position the Forum at the forefront of the conversations on advanced manufacturing and supply chains and inform decision-making.- Efforts to position advanced manufacturing and supply chains on top of the global agenda, by leveraging Forum events and the media.- Feedback from constituents on the fit of engagement and activities of the Centre to their specific needs, as well as ability to advise and adjust as needed.- Successfully managing and developing team members, supporting their career development goals and overseeing on-boarding and off-boarding
Preferred Requirements and Experience-
- 20+ years of relevant professional experience in the private sector, in manufacturing companies and/or other related areas activity- Outstanding verbal and written communication skil
