Job Description:
ROLE:
As a member of the R&D leadership team, the incumbent partners with all key stakeholders of the function as well as relevant franchise and commercial partners, to understand and enable business capabilities and realize organizational growth. The incumbent will consequently support and define the roadmap (working with Program Management Office), adapt the strategy, driving related key initiatives and ensure execution/implementation via an efficient and aligned Performance management infrastructure. The role holder provides organizational structure, process and decision authority related to effective governance for the function.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Strategy implementation- Work closely with various stakeholders to develop the function strategy with clear plans for implementation, including opportunities to improve efficiencies and challenge the status quo- Guide end-to-end strategy deployment and propose adjustments for existing strategies- Communicate the plan and any deviations- Map and monitor business risks and propose actions to mitigate those risks- Support function leaders in translating Strategy into actionable and quantitative plans which are in line with the overall roadmap- Ensure alignment of Performance Management and monitoring systems in collaboration with the Program Management Office- Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the progress of key initiatives, as well as any agreed-upon shifts in strategy or direction- Ensure the definition of the road map and the generation of the execution plans- Build critical presentations as requested- Ensure effective execution and delivery of strategy
- Project Management- Project manage other initiatives as needed- Support scope and structure of new project initiatives
- Analytics & Continuous Improvement- Develop and monitor metrics and feedback processes to assess the effectiveness of implemented programs- Develop meaningful Scorecard, and analytics (reports, dashboards); deploy and ensure usage by function and business leaders- Provide the EVP/SVP with ad hoc analysis, recommendations and options for decisions regarding priorities and projects in collaboration with Program Management Office
- Organization Build and Efficiency- Review, design and support improvements to organization structure- Work with HR and leaders to identify knowledge and skills gaps and support activities to address them- Improve current processes and coordinate organization procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity
- Communication Strategy- Lead the development of an effective communication strategy inside the function to 1) improve communication within the function and 2) boost the effectiveness of communications to the broader organization- Determine best practices; optimize communication media. Enforce new standards across the function- Communication and change management
- Budget and multi-year Business Plan- Deputised by the EVP/SVP function/franchise and together with the Financial Controller, and LT, ensure that the Budget is met- Support annual planning, monthly monitoring and quarterly forecasting- Deputised by the EVP/SVP and together with the Financial Controller, and LT, ensure that the Business Plan is effective- Development of the plan- Monitoring and reporting of its execution

REQUIRED EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
- MBA or advanced science degree- 10+ years of experience in strategy definition and implementation, strategic planning experience, preferably with consulting firm or in-house consulting groups- Experience of Project Management in an international environment and/or with a complex scope- Finance acumen- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills- Relevant exposure to Executive Management- Demonstrated ability to lead international, cross-functional team without authority- Previous experience in a senior management position- 6+ years of experience of the pharmaceutical industry- Experience in change management across companies large, complex functions- English fluent
