What you will do
The Chief Finance Officer, Europe is accountable for overseeing the financial and capital management, financial reporting, performance, governance and financial controls of Cover-More’s European business. The CFO will be the CEO’s key business partner and a key member of the European Executive, supporting the execution of the strategy and ensuring the businesses are able to deliver to their priorities and within budget. Playing a central role in enabling the growth of the businesses in Ireland in the UK, and the expansion into Europe, through a shared service model to support its multi-product, multi-channel, multi-territory offerings the role also includes supporting WTP and Freely’s expansion in the region.
The CFO will have a strong transformation focus and requires strong leadership, problem solving skills, communication skills, influence skills and adept decision-making to support the execution of the regional strategy and evolution of the finance organization to support the growth of the business across Europe. This includes driving the transformation of the European finance organization and operating model to support an increasingly complex shared service model (including recharging and transfer pricing model to support cross-jurisdictional operations) as well as assessing, supporting and, where needed, integrating new strategic joint ventures and acquisitions into the existing businesses.
The CFO will also be accountable for overseeing the rapid integration of the local finance functions to realise synergies and efficiencies and the transformation of the regional finance organization into a data driven organization. This will include utilizing technology in combination with strong technical accounting, financial management and data analytical skills, to enable actionable data driven insights to drive more effective forecasting, strategic management and decision making. With a strong future focus, the CFO will anticipate trends and link the strategic objectives and growth plans to the financial goals of the broader business. The CFO will identify opportunities for top-line growth, drive efficiencies and drive BOP, not just through the traditional methods of cost control, but through examples such as product line/regional profitability analysis, benchmarking against industry peers and working closely with underwriters and actuaries to maximize the financial efficiency and profitability of the MGA business and overall portfolio.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee the financial control framework and identification and management of financial risk, including maintaining a robust and dynamic internal controls environment and financial reporting processes.
- Oversee, and deliver to deadline, all strategy planning, budgeting, expense management and financial planning and reforecasting activities, in collaboration with Cover-More Group Finance and the Zurich Group.
- Ensure all current processes and policies are relevant, efficient, effective and aligned with broader Cover-More Group and, where relevant, Zurich policy.
- Overall accountability for ensuring the countries adhere to all financial management, accounting and reporting requirements, including ensuring all statutory / regulatory reporting and related statutory requirements is completed, signed off and filed in accordance with group standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Acting as the principal point of contact for the Group Chief Financial Officer, ZGV and the broader Zurich Finance organization to ensure responsive, transparent and timely communications and securing additional support and advice where needed.
