Geneve, Schweiz ICRC Vollzeit

**Requisition ID**: 19302

**Region**: Europe (HQ)

**Contract type**: Open-ended contract
What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and their International Federation to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Your purpose

You lead our efforts to strengthen the understanding of and capacity in digital communications across the ICRC and provide training, mentoring and strategic guidance to colleagues and units, particularly management and the Directorate. You will ensure ICRC is continuously adapting and innovating in its approach to digital communications and is best-in-class.

Your main duties & responsibilities

You’ll design and deliver a user-centred training plan to build an understanding and improved expertise in digital communications at all levels across the organization and to strengthen ICRC’s strategic approach to digital influencing, engagement and diplomacy.
You’ll co-design digital learning pathways with key headquarter (HQ) units, considering their priorities and needs, and implement training, mentoring and skill-building sessions to help strengthen their ability to deploy effective digital communication strategies. You will also use a variety of tools to identify their key digital audiences, understand behaviours, preferences and influencers, and design targeted approaches to reach the “think, feel, do” objectives of these units.
You’ll provide hands-on support to the directors, including regional directors, to develop and implement digital positioning and influencing strategies based on their remits and needs. This will include ongoing mentoring and accompaniment, as needed.
You’ll work with Regional Communication Centres (RCCs) and Communications colleagues across the house to futureproof our Communications workforce, ensure they’re 100% digital-savvy and have the skills they need to implement the right digital communication strategies in their delegations.
You’ll put in place regular training and discussion sessions to help colleagues understand “social media, ICRC and me” - aka how they can follow our social media guidelines while humanising the work of the ICRC and helping us reach key audiences through their profiles.
You’ll build mutually beneficial partnerships with learning organizations and digital experts and set up and run an internal digital think tank, bringing their knowledge and experiences into the organization through informal talks, access to training, and bespoke sessions.
You’ll liaise with colleagues in Learning & Development (LnD), Digital Ops, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Digital Transformation & Data (DTD) to ensure we’re aligned on our approach to digital literacy across the house and provide support to other initiatives.
You’ll ensure we’re continuously checking in with colleagues and getting feedback on the value and impact of training and skill-building activities and iterate and course correct as needed.
You’ll help nurture and boost our collective digital culture and contribute to building comfort around our approach to testing, iterating and learning with everything we do in digital communications, with an eye to cultivating an innovative mindset.
Your scope & impact

Your remit is global.
You’ll provide digital communication expertise at the division level, including training and guidance to senior staff members and supervising multiple strategic learning and engagement projects.
You’ll contribute to developing Communication strategies to digitally position the ICRC and support the prioritisation of affected people as a key audience for Communications.
Your key relationships

You report to the Head of Community, Digital & Engagement (CODE)
You’ll work closely with key colleagues and the heads of Cross Media (XMedia), Communication Analytics (CAN), Global Communication Support (GCS), and Strategic Communications (StratCom) to deliver on your above-mentioned responsibilities.
You’ll collaborate with digital colleagues and the heads of RCCs to ensure they are equipped to meet the digital communication needs of delegations.
You’ll interact with Communications teams across the ICRC and various non-Communications colleagues.
You’ll build and maintain strong relationships with key counterparts in humanitarian organisations, in particular, the IFRC and National Societies, as well as w
