You’ll be working within the broader Legal team as well as across functions surrounded and supported by experts in everything from labor & employment, regulatory, corporate & commercial, litigation, intellectual property and more.
We are currently looking for a Counsel - Competition Law to join our Corporate team within Legal, based in our Operations Centre, Lausanne. Here you will play an active role in the biggest transformation in the history of our company.
In this position you will be effective in exercising seasoned judgment and providing guidance to business and functional leaders across the organization with responsibility for performing a variety of moderately complex to complex legal matters and projects including day-to-day advice to the company and its business professionals on a range of regulatory law issues. You will ensure that regulatory strategy, policy, and practices are properly established and executed.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for advising the Company on compliance with anti-trust regulation.
- Assist in the design and implementation of the compliance program on competition law and related trainings materials and keep them up to date.
- Help business colleagues understand the risks and consequences of the given situation. Effectively communicate the consequences and develop alternatives to manage identified risks.
- Efficiently gather and distill relevant information from appropriate sources, identify and analyze legal issues and know when to escalate them.
- Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations and ensure legal compliance as it relates to the noted areas of law.
- Represent or review the company’s regulatory communications before federal, state and local government agencies regarding the noted areas of law.
- Stay current with legal developments, best practices and benchmarks in the noted areas of law and assist internal clients in implementing policies and procedures in response thereto.
- Maintain a culture with a high degree of emphasis on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
- Actively collaborate with other attorneys in the department, including the Regions and markets in the noted areas of law and according to expectations set for the Center of Expertise.
Who we’re looking for
- Juris doctor and licensed to practice law in a locale where PMI operates.
- At least 5 years of experience with a demonstrated in-depth understanding of regulatory legal matters. Both in house and major law firm experience preferred.
- Previous experience with life sciences or technology industry preferred.
- Previous managerial and leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple, conflicting priorities while managing a substantial workload and client expectations.
- Demonstrated understanding of how government officials develop and implement policy, with an ability to analyze government regulations/legislation.
- Experience of working successfully in a highly results-oriented and performance-driven environment with a focus on excellence.
- Robust interpersonal, networking, public speaking, and writing skills, with the confidence and credibility to act quickly, communicate effectively with diplomacy and civility, and command respect of both internal and external audiences.
- Proven ability to think strategically and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to oversee complex projects and lead them to successful completion in an organized, efficient, and effective manner.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain an appropriate perspective regardless of the delicacy or pressure of a situation.
- Strong organizational skills reflected by motivation toward planning, and communicating with high performance teams in a dynamic environment.
- Strong project management and follow-up skills.
