Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
In our Software Development Center, our team develops modern software solutions for our new products which are globally available. To further expand our team in our global operating headquarter in Greifensee, we are looking for a motivated, experienced and proactive Head of Requirements Engineering (all genders).
As a highly skilled Head of Requirements Engineering (RE), you will be responsible for overseeing the entire RE process and to lead your own team from gathering and analyzing requirements to documenting and communicating them to the development team. Your Team will use Polarion as requirements management tool. You will work closely with project managers, product managers, REs, developers, and testers to ensure that all requirements are clearly defined, documented, and delivered on time and within budget.
In this role, your responsibilities would include:
- Oversee the entire requirement engineering process from start to finish, including requirement elicitation, analysis, documentation, and communication to the development team to ensure that all requirements are delivered on time, with good quality and within budget
- Be the line manager of a small team providing guidance, mentorship, and support as needed
- Be part of the LabX Management Team and support initiatives to empower the LabX team (~50 engineers), retain talents, improve efficiency and processes etc.
- Collaborate with epic owners, product managers, project managers, UX designers, internal know-how carriers and developers to define requirements that are comprehensible to all parties and can be used for implementation, testing and documentation
- Support in prioritizing the backlog of requirements / features, ensuring that they align with the project goals and objectives
- Participate in project planning and estimation, providing input on the feasibility and scope of requirements
- Develop proposals to enable your team to become closer to the customers and bring more relevant inputs to identify new product opportunities and improve existing products
- Collaborate with the marketing team to gather customer feedback to identify new product opportunities and improve existing products. This includes bringing the customers’ point of view into the RE team and validating requirement concepts with customers
- Develop initiative to increase the technical & customers knowledge of the RE Team to empower your Team to take decisions that are relevant in term of cost & business strategy
What You Need to Succeed
Following requirements are necessary for this role:
- You have at least a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical/scientific fields (Physics, Chemistry etc.)
- You bring a minimum of 5 years of work experience in requirement engineering, with experience in project management
- Ideally you have experience as a product owner, in software development lifecycle, in a laboratory environment and in working with customers
- Proven ability to manage projects and a large backlog of in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, to lead and mentor a team of senior REs to achieve project goals, including innovative and strategic way of thinking to improve requirements engineering process and team efficiency
- Fluent language skills in English is required with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. German is a plus
