Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) is a leading product development partnership (PDP) in the field of antimalarial drug research and development. Its mission is to reduce the burden of malaria in disease-endemic countries by discovering, developing and delivering new, effective and affordable antimalarial drugs.

Over the past two decades, MMV has worked with an extensive network of donors, private and public sector partners, experts and clinical centers in endemic countries to develop an outstanding portfolio of antimalarial projects.

Our portfolio is financed through funding support coming from government agencies, private and corporate foundations, international organizations, corporations and private individuals.

We are currently seeking a Communications Manager for a maternity replacement who will implement the organisation’s communications strategy though various internal and external activities, primarily management of MMV’s external website, creation of print and digital content to raise the credibility and visibility of MMV. The role includes the function of internal stakeholder management, MMV brand guardian and communications representative on cross-functional teams at MMV.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Content and events**
- Contribute to MMV’s overall communications and positioning by proposing communication plans, content, messages, and dissemination strategies that are relevant and engaging to target audiences, translating the comms strategy and priorities into action
- Produce print and digital content, including publications, image slideshows, interviews, infographics and conference materials
- Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify and shape stories about MMV for the media, including drafting and dissemination of press releases, web news stories and op-eds
- Support the development and visibility of MMV thought leaders
- Manage MMV’s visibility at events and conferences
- Advise cross-functional teams as well as the fundraising and advocacy teams on communications matters, develop and implement associated comms plans
- Coordinate translation and layout of content
- Manage media monitoring tool to gauge impact of MMV’s communications and monitor for organisational risks
- Train new staff on communication processes (SOPs)

**Digital channels**
- Ensure MMV website content is up-to-date on an ongoing basis
- Grow MMV web traffic using Google Ads, as well as search engine optimization and marketing
- Create and analyse Google Analytics reports to gauge performance of site and feed into its continuous improvement
- Work with web developers to ensure the web design remains fresh and continuously improve functionality of CMS with new features
- Lead creation and content development for new websites with web developers, as needed
- Collaborate with Comms Officer responsible for social media to develop a unified digital strategy and content calendar to drive audience engagement.

**Education and Experience**:

- University degree in communications, science, public health or related field
- 5-8 years of work experience with digital and print communications preferably at an international organization and/or in the area of public health or science
- A successful track record in devising and implementing media strategies and obtaining top-tier coverage
- Experience in analyzing relevant reports and information for dissemination to the management team
- Experience writing about technical or scientific topics for non-scientific audiences

**Technical skills required**:

- Strong English writing and editing skills; able to produce clear, concise and engaging messages
- Web editing experience and knowledge of content management systems
- Ability to compile, consolidate and organize information
- Clear and systematic thinking that demonstrates good judgment and problem-solving competencies
- Skilled at editing images and preparing graphics; good knowledge of Photoshop
- Experience with Google AdWords an asset
- French language skills an asset
