As Head of Accounting Expertise Centers, you will lead the Accounting Expertise Centers (AEC) organizational unit in the Alcon FRA European FSC, managing the people and resources across the assigned R2R AECs and for the relevant Reporting Units. You will also lead the technical accounting function for the Alcon EMEA Region.

In this role, a typical day will include:
- Accounting & Reporting:

- Lead from end to end the accounting and reporting activities for the assigned R2R processes (Inventory AEC, and HR Accounting AEC including Share Based Compensation and Pension Accounting);
- Support the Head of European FSC in their role as Alcon FRA SPOC for the EMEA region by leading the Technical AEC. The Technical AEC is responsible for providing expert advice on technical accounting related matters to the FSC Clusters and their various stakeholders and working with the Region FRA and BPA Heads with the region SOX reporting.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of financial reporting and accounting activities of the 3 main Reporting Units in Switzerland.
- Deliver high quality reporting with insightful financial information for key stakeholders. Deliver strong reporting and decision support for Head of European FSC and local/Regional Finance Heads.- Inventory accounting
- Manage complex calculations such as Inventory provisions for Europe Region entities within the AEC team including the reporting to EMEA region Heads and APL CFO outcomes each quarter
- Develop finance planning and oversee execution of the development of new Regional Distribution centers in Europe and LATAM within APL, including complex manual inventory transfers across entities taking into account VAT and Reporting matters
- Ensure complete, timely and accurate financial data for inventory-related accounts/schedules are submitted to both Alcon Product Margin Reporting (APMR) and Financial Consolidation Reporting System (FCRS) every month.
- Participate in Inventory projects such as establishment of new Regional Distribution Centers, Inventory Transfers, both of which span outside of Europe Region, and Global Inventory provision strategic reviews, etc.- HR Accounting
- Participate in the Global HR Accounting Center of Excellence with the US HR accounting team
- Continue to develop and work on areas of improvement in the newly developed Employee Benefit, Share Based Compensation, Pension accounting, and Global Mobility processes for all markets globally with the exception of the US
- Ensure HR Accounting process designs are consistent with best practices and aligned with the Record-to-Report
- Support EMEA region in all HR accounting areas as the region expert- People Management- General Management:

- Fosters positive work relationships and collaboration with the FSC Clusters and with other FRA Teams and stakeholders (e.g. BPA, Treasury, External Reporting, Consolidations and Reporting).
- Business partner for various groups of users within the Alcon Division (FSC, Export Markets, Global HR Management, Group FRA, BPA) to ensure that business objectives are met through provision of timely, accurate and relevant financial information.- Compliance & Internal Control:

- Responsible for compliance to AMA, AFCM, SOX 404, and country statutory requirements.
- Lead the Internal Control annual cycle within the relevant Reporting Units for assigned controls (self-assessment, testing, remediation, and certification).

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Education: University degree preferably in Finance, or business school; professional accounting qualification

**Experience**:
- 10+ years of experience in financial reporting and accounting in a multi-national corporation (strong knowledge and practice of IFRS), thereof ideally 2 to 4 years within the big 4 audit firms.- Work experience within an international context, change management experience- Strong leadership and management skills - line management, coaching, mentoring & development of team members.- Strong knowledge and practice of IFRS.- Very strong written and oral communication skills.- Knowledge of SAP and/ or JDE.

Languages: fluency in English (communication in German and or French is a plus)
