The brand new multi-purpose manufacturing and development site in Lengnau is designed for large scale biologics manufacturing and has a vast expansion potential. After completion of the construction phase, our Lengnau site will offer highly flexible biomanufacturing technologies, from process development to large-scale production, including stainless steel equipment, in order to successfully meet the needs of our customers.
**Manager, BioProcess Sciences Labs (M/F/d)**
**Location: Lengnau**
In this position, you will own the Bio Process Sciences Upstream laboratories in Lengnau and ensure adherence to process development timelines and budget. The role leads all aspects of the planning of staff and lab resources, and advises the USP technical project leads in the definition and execution of the scientific/technical content of the individual customer programs. You will also be responsible for implementing the strategic upstream process development capability expansion, including high efficiency screening and set up of a pilot scale laboratory.
**Your Responsibilities**:
- Train and mentor team members in technical and career development.
- Be a motivator to the planning and execution of process development activities, including exploratory and investigation activities, process improvements and scale-down model qualification/process characterization.
- Serve as technical lead in cross-site, customer-facing project core teams.
- Lead the planning, fit-out, commissioning of laboratory facilities and extensions thereof, such as the pilot lab.
- Collaborate and liaise closely with the corresponding function of other Thermo Fisher sites to establish and maintain an exchange on standard methodologies in process development, manufacturing and technology transfer.
- Work well with other process development teams through the global Bio Process Sciences network, participate to global development strategy definition and implementation, ensuring aligned approaches and knowledge exchange management. **Your profile**:
- Degree (Bachelor, Masters or higher) in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.), Dipl. Ing. or M.Sc. or B.Sc. or equivalent.
- Shown experience (at a minimum of 8 years) in process development, preferably gained within a Life Sciences / Pharma / Biotech setting, and with emphasis on bench-scale or pilot-scale upstream processes to be transferred to a GxP facility.
- Experience in people leadership, project management and/or acting as receiving or sending unit in a technology transfer is a considerable advantage.
- A very good understanding of biopharmaceutical processing strategies and technologies.
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills, coupled with a strongly customer-centric attitude.
- Language skills: English (Proficient) and German (advantageous).
