In Life Sciences animal experiments still are an essential part of success - even though there has been great progress in the development of alternative methods. The Mouse Core Facility of the University of Basel consists of five separate facilites with almost 70 staff members which offer their services to over 70 research groups. The team ensures species-appropriate husbandry and care of all laboratory animals in compliance with the legislation and the FVO on 365 days per year.

- Coordination of im
- und exports of animals as well as internal transfers
- Supervision of and responsibility for veterinary drugs including prescription, documentation, and approval of orders
- Routine monitoring of handling of veterinary drugs at the University Basel
- Veterinary care of laboratory animals in the facilities of the University Basel in close collaboration with the Head of Animal Facilities and the local heads of facilities
- Coordination and follow-up of solutions concerning technical issues in the animal facilities, especially in the New Biozentrum
- Representation and assessment of requirements for the animal facilities regarding the construction of the new Departement Biomedizin
- Deputy to the Head of Animal Facilities

**Your profile**
- Universtiy Degree in Veterinary medicine
- At least 3 years of experience in animal experimentation and/or husbandry of laboratory animals
- Experience in breeding of laboratory animals and monitoring of constraint in genetically modified laboratory animals is an advantage
- Affinity to and experience with the technical requirements of animal facilities, especially in regard to new buildings
- High sense of responsibility
- Excellent knowledge of German and English, written and oral communication
- Pleasure in working with animals and people and in being part of a team
- Strong communicational and organisational skills together with outcome-oriented way of working
