This internship is located in the Staff Counsellors Office, Human Resources Management Service, Division of Administration, United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland. Due to the nature of the Staff Counsellor's Office activities, the internship shall protect the confidentiality of all professionally acquired information.

The UNOG Staff Counsellors Office is responsible for the promotion of psychosocial wellbeing and good mental health in the workplace, and operates at organizational level, team level and individual level, bridging with relevant stakeholders when necessary.

The internship is being offered for a minimum period of three (3) months, with a possibility of extension up to a maximum period of six (6) months.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five (5) days per week (40 hours) under the general guidance and direct supervision of the Chief Staff Counsellor.

**Responsibilities**:
In general, the intern will support UNOG Staff Counsellor’s Office in fulfilling its mandate to promote well-being and good practices for mental health at UNOG and its Client Entities.

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, supporting the Staff Counsellors in:

- Conducting research, analysis and presentation of information gathered from diverse sources on assigned topics / issues, such as burnout, emotional intelligence etc..;
- Contributing to the Office’s well-being and burnout prevention programmes;
- Assisting in workshop design and delivery;
- Contributing to the preparation of various written documents, e.g., assisting in the drafting of sections of studies, background papers, etc.;
- Assisting with the update of the internal websites;
- Developing and maintaining reference / resource information on specific topics;
- Performing tasks as requested by the supervisor as appropriate.

The incumbent will:

- be part of a dynamic team;
- learn about and assist with other programmes in the Staff Counsellors Office as desired and required.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the UN Internship programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and,
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
