Pos. 140 Combustor Mechanical Integrity Engineer

Join the Combustor department within gas turbine business in Baden, Switzerland and contribute to the continuous improvement of Ansaldo Energia products.

Responsibilities:

  1. Dynamic and cyclic lifetime assessment of our combustor components using state-of-the-art FE tools.
  2. Develop, implement and validate relevant stress and lifetime models.
  3. Define and monitor experimental test programs including dynamic strain and acceleration measurements, shaker table tests, data evaluation, etc.
  4. Compare analytical results to the engine field experience, improve models, and ensure feedback into the current design process.
  5. Close interaction with all other combustor disciplines such as cooling, combustion dynamics, mechanical design, and combustion operation and external partners.

Your profile:

  1. Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification.
  2. Track record in industrial gas turbine technology development.
  3. Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in high temperature components.
  4. Solid knowledge in structural mechanics, dynamics, high temperature material, lifetime prediction and/or fluid-structural interactions.
  5. Experience in ANSYS Workbench (or similar).
  6. Programming skills preferably in APDL, Python and/or Matlab.
  7. Experience in test data post-processing.
  8. Basic knowledge in combustion and thermodynamics.
  9. Critical mindset, problem solving attitude and analytical thinking.
  10. Strong communication skills and experience in working in multidisciplinary teams.
  11. Flexible and target-oriented approach to tackle new challenges.
  12. Excellent command of English; German is an advantage, further knowledge of Italian would be an asset.
