At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on CERN's website.
Introduction
Are you an experienced Facility Coordinator with a proven track record in overseeing large-scale service contracts, with a strong focus on sustainability? Do you possess excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a service-oriented approach? Join us to lead initiatives that promote a clean, safe, and sustainable workplace, directly contributing to CERN’s environmental goals and the well-being of everyone on campus. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact at the world’s leading particle physics laboratory: Take part
The Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) Department manages and develops CERN’s real estate assets and infrastructures in alignment with CERN’s scientific strategy, as well as all services related to the maintenance and operation of the CERN site. We are currently seeking a Coordinator of Responsible Campus Services to lead the cleanliness unit, which includes cleaning, waste management, and recovery. In this role, you will have a direct impact on the daily experience of up to 10,000 people across CERN’s sites in both France and Switzerland—including our iconic experimental areas.
Functions
As Coordinator of Responsible Campus Services for cleanliness, you will be part of a team committed to continuous learning and professional growth. Your role will include:
Managing cleanliness services:
- Oversee third-party service contracts, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Act as the primary contact for contractors and the CERN community, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Control budgets, verify invoices, and track costs to comply with financial constraints.
- Ensure quality through regular audits and continuous process improvement.
Driving Innovation and Sustainability:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Plan and execute investments to enhance cleanliness services.
- Implement sustainability initiatives aligned with CERN’s 2030 Environmental Objectives.
- Update long-term roadmaps and technical specifications during procurement.
- Lead pilot projects to improve efficiency and environmental impact.
Supporting Campus Services:
- Collaborate on other campus services activities when required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of facility management, service management, hospitality management or a related field.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience as a service provider, overseeing the contractual relationships, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Demonstrated experience working with cleaning companies or cleaning services for large contracts.
- Experience in continuous improvement or LEAN management would be an asset.
- Organisation, planning and control.
- Process analysis, definition and improvement: using continuous improvement methodology.
- Specification and follow-up of technical aspects of a contract.
- Facilities & Cleaning Services Management.
- Achieving results: delivering prompt and efficient service taking into account customer needs; having a structured and organised approach towards work; being able to set priorities and plan tasks with results in mind.
- Solving problems: producing workable and timely solutions that meet requirements; anticipating obstacles; assessing alternative solutions in order to have a fall-back plan.
- Managing self: working well autonomously; taking on activities and tasks without prompting; remaining objective, focused and productive in a stressful environment; focusing on solutions rather than problems.
- Demonstrating flexibility: being able to demonstrate flexibility whilst abiding by all applicable rules.
- Working in teams: cooperating constructively with others in the pursuit of team goals; balancing personal goals with team goals.
Language skills: spoken and written English and French.
Eligibility and closing date:
Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
This vacancy will be filled as soon as possible, and applications should normally reach us no later than Sunday, January 19th 2025, at 23.59 CET.
