Bursar and Accounting Coordinator

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team at our office in Zurich. This is a part-time position, offering a 50% workload, with a commitment of 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Pre-Accounting and Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit financial data, including student payment summaries, student charges, and outstanding balances.
    • Collect and submit accounting documentation such as expense reports and received invoices.
    • Support the Head Accountant in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Pro-forma Invoice Preparation:
    • Generate accurate pro-forma invoices for students and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with payment schedules and agreements.
  • Student Payment Management:
    • Process student tuition payments and possible refunds.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records related to student accounts.
  • Data Analysis and Excel Proficiency:
    • Utilize advanced Excel tools to analyze and report on large datasets.
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies in payment data or account records.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide support to students regarding payment inquiries, financial statements, and account adjustments with a high level of professionalism and empathy.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Assist the finance team with general administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations.
Your Profile
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or another qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-3 years in an accounting or finance-related role, preferably also experienced in a customer-facing role or in a service-oriented environment.
    • Experience working with international financial systems and regulations is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, etc.) and familiarity with accounting software.
    • Strong numerical aptitude and excellent analytical skills.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
    • Knowledge of cross-border insurance practices (e.g., Switzerland, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Japan) is an advantage.
  • Other:
    • Strong communication skills in English and German; proficiency in additional languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch) is a bonus.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with integrity.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a proactive and independent work style.
    • Swiss nationality or a residence/work permit valid for Switzerland.
