Customs Specialist

  • Organize and process customs and foreign trade-related activities within the company.
  • Improve the efficiency and accuracy of customs procedures.
  • Organize import clearances to ensure smooth and compliant operations.
  • Review customs duty notices and import invoices, ensuring corrections for any inaccuracies in declarations.
  • Manage inward processing for aluminum shipments to comply with all regulations.
  • Handle relevant CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) reporting including the operational import of relevant goods.
  • Assisting in customs audits across Germany by providing necessary documents.
  • Support the spare parts export & logistics department including export declaration and shipment organization.

You bring these skills, experience & education:

  • Education: Completed commercial education, ideally with a focus on logistics, customs and / or international trade.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs, import/export operations, or a related field.
    • Proven experience working with German customs authorities and managing customs-related processes.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of German customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade agreements.
    • Familiarity with customs software and systems (e.g., SAP GTS, ATLAS).
    • Experience with inward processing procedures and CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) reporting.
    • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling complex documentation and processes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with customs authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement in customs compliance processes.
  • Language Skills:
    • Proficient command of English, both written and verbal.
    • Proficiency in German is a must have.
