Find out more about UZH as an employer Your responsibilities Our laboratory is developing and translating viral and genome editing gene therapy systems for treating patients with severe, often fatal diseases of the blood, immune and central nervous system. Our research is based on interdisciplinary and dynamic collaborations within a team of young international scientists and clinicians. You will profit from personal development possibilities and our strong vocational training culture. The salary is in the range recommended by the Swiss National Science Foundation. You will extend our portfolio of gene therapy tools to address phagocyte-related diseases by developing novel in vivo gene therapy approaches targeting hematopoietic stem cells. You will generate data on efficacy and safety of gene therapy vectors in multiple target cells and carry on preclinical development to animal models towards clinical application in patients. Your skills and research experience will allow you to successfully publish your results and obtain competitive external funding. As a senior member of the team, you will coordinate tasks across multiple projects and contribute to the supervision of master and doctoral students. Habilitation and later creation of your own research group are encouraged. Your profile You are an enthusiastic and creative scientist, interested to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, striving to further scientific discovery towards clinical applications. You hold a doctoral degree (PhD, or MD/PhD) in molecular biology, biomedicine, immunology, or other relevant fields with excellent qualifications, documented by at least 3 years of research experience and publications in international journals. You have hands‑on experience with lentiviral vectors and gene editing tools, as well as extensive knowledge in hematopoietic stem cell and phagocyte biology and DNA repair mechanism. Furthermore, experience in primary human cell cultures, multicolor flow cytometry, qPCR/ddPCR, transgenic mouse models and next generation sequencing technologies would be of advantage.
