Data Scientist in the field of Medical Knowledge and Decision Support

The School of Medicine is an innovative and future-oriented research institute of the HSG, with chairs for Healthcare Management, Digital Health Interventions, and Medical Knowledge and Decision Support. The Medical Knowledge and Decision Support Group is led by Prof. Dr. Janna Hastings who holds a PhD in biological science, and Masters degrees in computer science and in philosophy. Prof. Hastings is interested in technological advances for clinical research and practice, and the human dimension of an increasingly digitalised world in the context of developments such as personalised and integrative medicine. Her group brings together computer scientists, biomedical and health scientists, and psychologists to answer questions at the interface between clinical and information systems.
Data Scientist in the field of Medical Knowledge and Decision Support (m/w/d)Your tasks:
- Implementing pipelines for clinical applications using current machine learning approaches for natural language processing with the latest technologies in Python e.g., scikit-learn, pytorch, transformers
- Building simple web interfaces for data collection and prediction output visualisation using e.g., the flask library in Python
- Analysing and interpreting the performance of algorithms to support clinical decision-making and reporting on the results of such analyses
- Liaising and communicating with clinicians and other team members to support project objectives
- Supporting the development of a large-scale follow-up grant proposal
Your profile:
- Masters or PhD in biomedical data science, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, biostatistics, or a similar quantitative field
- At least one year of significant experience in data science programming in Python
- Experience with machine learning and modern AI technologies such as large language models
- An interest in the oncology domain and applications of new digital technologies to solve pressing problems in the clinic
- An open, interdisciplinary perspective and good teamwork
- Profound knowledge (written/oral) in English, and German (advantageous).
